The outsiders is a book written by S.E Hinton and it is about a troubled teen named pony boy who is a greaser and he has two brothers one that is name Soda pop and the other one that is named Darry and they are greasers as well and the setting of the book the outsiders is the mid-80s beat up little town where the greasers live and a nice little suburban town are where the rival gang the SOCS live and one problem that happens in the book is that pony boy and one of his friends get jumped by the SOCS and his friend so they didn’t kill pony boy accidentally ended up killing a SOC and that ends up causing trouble for them and one lesson that the story the outsiders has is to never take life for granted and to cherish every moment in your life cause when you least expect it your life could change in an instant without you even being aware and then you will regret not taking the chances and doing everything possible that you could before your life decides to be flipped upside down
at the beginning of the story I feel like pony boy is misunderstood and feels like he is being a burden on the rest of the greasers cause when the SOCS jumped him the other greasers had to come and save him and chase off all of the SOCS and then had to be helped up by one of his brothers and then later on in the story he says it feels like Darry doesn’t love him as a brother and that he doesn’t care about him cause all eh feels like to him is a burden and just a kid he has to take care of and he thinks that is why Darry is working all the time and never has any time for fun or to just hang out but Darry is a part of that problem cause he shows no emotions or feelings to anyone and he is always working and never or hardly ever has any time for Pony boy or Soda pop or just to all out have fun and hang out with the rest of the greasers and to go to the movies with Pony boy or any of the greasers and Darry also does show a little hatred towards Pony boy by always yelling at him and getting mad at him for the smallest things and after all no one in the greaser group really understood why Darry was always so hard on Pont boy and when Darry yells at Pony boy Soda pop has to start in and tell Darry to stop yelling at him and Soda pop is basically always there for Pony boy
The author develops the theme in the middle of the book by showing how pony boys emotions and actions have changed then at the beginning of the book cause near the beginning of the book he seems a little misunderstood and over looked than other people cause he feels like the greasers don’t understand him and they just look over him but near the middle they start to pay attention to him more and wonder what is up with him and actually like pay attention to them and everyone is so curious what is going on in his life and what moves he makes and seeing If he is off and getting into trouble but that could also be because they don’t trust him and they don’t want to be split up but Darry and Soda pop should try and trust him a little at least if they don’t trust him right now but they still look over him a little but not as much as they used to like before but he is still a little bit understood but other than the few things they don’t trust him about and him still being a little bit misunderstood he still feels like Darry doesn’t like him that much and it showed more when Darry actually hit Pony boy cause he came home late and worried Darry
At the end of the book Pony boy has changed cause he has to deal with the loss of a cherished one that was close to him and he is trying to figure out how to deal with it but he feels all alone cause he just loss someone super close to him and it is possible that he wishes everything back to normal and have everything be perfect cause he didn’t want to lose a loved one he ran away for a good reason he had to leave cause of what happened with one of the SOCS and his friend they had to leave they didn’t mean for it to happen but the SOCS attacked them first so his friend had to do what he did to save Pony boy so that Pony boy wouldn’t die and the mistake Pony boys friend had made it would change their lives forever Pony boy had no clue that the second he ran out of that house would change his life forever he probably regrets that dreaded day so much just cause one of his loved/close ones passed away and he probably blames himself cause he was the one to run out he was the one who had to run away and he probably believes that the reason his loved one died is cause of the SOCS that decided to jump him and then the little accident that happened cause of what his friend did and he didn’t mean for any of it to happen it just happen out of the random and they wouldn’t be able to know what happened cause it was completely out of the blue no one could have known it was going to happen
And the reason I thing that the outsiders theme is to never take life for granted is because pony boy lost someone that was close to him and that he loved just randomly out of nowhere and he also had to get away because of a random event that also happened out of nowhere it all just suddenly happen and changed his life forever and he couldn’t go back to how it used to be no matter how hard he tried and he regrets so much all the bad things that had happened and he probably thinks that all the bad stuff happened cause he existed but no in reality it’s no one’s fault but in the end I think he learned to never take life for granted and to take every moment that you have and to keep the good memories locked away and let all the bad memories go and just forget about them so that you can be able to focus on everything good in life instead of just regretting and living in all the bad moments everyone should just try to focus on everything good and to just not let all the bad things get us down and I think the book try’s to spread that message cause everyone goes through bad parts in their lives and if they get the right motivation then they can get through it so that the writer of this book probably was going through something bad of their own when they wrote this cause they wanted people to pull through and keep fighting and that is why I believe that the meaning is to never take life for granted and to just live in the moment
